This past Sunday, my friends and I were in church when the speaker for that day said something that stood out to me. “You’re either going into a storm, in a storm, or leaving a storm.” It stuck out to me because it made me take the time to examine my life and wonder where was I? Well today on Monday, I got my answer yesterday I was going into a storm, and today before writing this, I found myself in a small storm.
Just yesterday, it was a peaceful Sunday, I went to church, spent time with my wife, and just enjoyed my day relaxing. Today, however, it just felt like one thing after another. I come into a job that I don’t enjoy to find my work area in shambles, I get aggravated because I feel there’s no accountability for others here except me, I get call after call from my brother who’s in jail about the same thing, and all in all I’m just aggravated because it’s Monday.
Now I know that’s not a lot, but you have those days where it’s just the small things that kill your mood. In those times, even though all my agitation, the way I get through them and fix my mood is just by leaning more towards God. When I got fed up to the point where I just couldn’t think straight, I just heard a quiet voice going “peace be still”. The same words Jesus himself said in Mark 4:39 “Peace be still”. In this verse, Jesus was talking to the storm at sea which brought fear into those around him. It shook them to the point where they feared for their lives and Jesus questioned them in verse 40 saying, “why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?”. Today I just want to remind you that even when the largest storms arise around you, remember to lean on Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He conquers all and is a shelter in the time of a storm.
